The Straughn High School SGA will be hosting a LifeSouth Blood Drive tomorrow, November 4th, from 8 am to 3 pm in front of the high school gym. Anyone 16 or older may participate , but those under the age of 18 must have a permission slip signed in order to donate. A link to the permission slip is included in this post.

Congratulations to our Sound of Gold! They performed in Little Big Horn last Saturday in Opp. They looked and sounded fantastic and received all superior and excellent ratings along with best in class majorettes. Way to go Band! Proud of you and your sponsors and all your hard work! Great job!

Congratulations to our Volleyball team! They hosted the 4A Area 4 Tournament last week and are the area champions! They will move on to the Region Tournament this week in Montgomery.

Our Straughn Bass Team showed out recently on Lake Jordan with the Wiregrass Student Angler Trail!
We had Three teams in the Top 10!
4th place- Brayden Tisdale / Tanner Smith – 5 fish, 12.89 lbs
8th place - Evan Ray / Bryson Harrison – 5 fish, 9.62 lbs
10th place - Isaac McMath / Drayden Whitten – 5 fish, 9.17 lbs

Drake Padgett / Chappell Clanton – 20th place, 2 fish, 6.10 lbs
The Straughn Bass Team sits in 5th place overall for Team of the Year on the Wiregrass Student Angler Trail!

Our cheerleaders competed in the AHSAA Super Regionals today in Mobile. They were AWESOME! They placed 4th overall with a score of 80.05 and received a bid to participate in the state competition in November. So proud of our girls and coaches! Great job! Go Tigers!

Our SHS Cross Country team had another good meet on Saturday at the CCS trail. Our students keep running hard and improving their times. A special congratulations to Kaitlyn Bybee. She won first place in the girls 5k and is currently 5-0 on the season. We are so proud of our XC team and coaches!

Congratulations to our Straughn High School Sound of Gold! They participated in the band competition held in Andalusia this past weekend. They were awarded superior ratings in all categories, best in class drum major, and best in class drum line. Way to go Band! So proud of our students and directors!

Congratulations to our varsity volleyball team! They won first place in the Goshen tournament over the weekend. So proud of our girls and coaches.

High school students that have good school attendance and would like to attend the cheer competition in Mobile on Thursday afternoon to support our cheerleaders will be allowed to check out at 11:30 this Thursday, October 9th. Students that attend will need to check in with Mr. Cobb at the cheer competition so they won't be counted absent.
Straughn youth league volleyball players will be admitted to today's volleyball tri-match games for free if they wear their jersey to the game. The first game begins at 4:00 p.m. This free admission event is for Straughn youth league players only. Hope to see you there!
Mr. Sport's bus is running late this morning due to a malfunction with the bus. He is beginning the route now.
Mike Myers's bus is running about 20-30 minutes late this morning. The bus would not start. He is currently underway. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Our sophomores will be taking the PreACT tomorrow, Oct 1st. 10th graders who participate in dual enrollment will not go to college tomorrow so that they can participate in the test.
Students that take the PreACT tomorrow will be allowed to check out after the exam with no attendance penalty, provided they have written permission from a parent or guardian.
Kip Russel's bus will be about 20-25 minutes late this afternoon. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The JV football game that was scheduled for tonight has been cancelled. Highland Home called and they were unable to play due to illness.
